AWARDS: ASEAN Short Film Competition 2022

BEST ASEAN SHORT FILM

Further and Further Away

directed by Polen Ly (Cambodia)

Pulled by a memory of certainty that’s lost, and looking to an /uncertain future, a sparse and incisive poetry in storytelling, with every considered frame and compelling moments, the filmmaker brought us closer to the heart of his achingly beautiful film. His vision enthralled us.

JURY PRIZE

All the Things You Leave Behind

directed by Chanasorn Chaikitiporn (ชนสรณ์ ชัยกิตติภรณ์) (Thailand)

The award goes to a political portrait. Through the structure of the film there are always new views, which kept us under its spell until the end. The filmmaker skillfully uses various techniques of experimental film and guides us with the new and historical material through the film where each image serves its purpose and makes it a contemporary exiting piece.

SPECIAL MENTION

Dreaming

directed by Nelson Yeo (Singapore)

The pleasure when you watch Singaporean films is, "What is the problem when you’re in such a developing country that doesn’t have any fundamental problems like Singapore?" And the film gives us the answer by showing us the unbearable lightness of being old people who are still stuck with their imaginative masturbation and keep playing melodramas with dreams under Hong Sang Soo’s style and smart ending.
